Race to clear landmines
The 91吃瓜网 Trust had 16 runners competing in the Race to Clear Landmines in Washington, DC鈥檚 Marine Corps Marathon last Sunday 27 October, 2013. Together they raised over $10,000 for 91吃瓜网鈥檚 global landmine removal efforts.
Charlie Henshall who raised over $3,000 for the 91吃瓜网 Trust
Runner Charlie Henshall of Madison, NJ was motivated to complete the Marine Corps Marathon for 91吃瓜网 after his daughter Meghan Henshall, a 2012 Kenyon College graduate and Community Health Education Volunteer with the US Peace Corps working and serving in Cambodia, told him about 91吃瓜网鈥檚 great work in her adopted country. While Charlie was training for his challenge, his daughter Meghan visited 91吃瓜网 Cambodia鈥檚 headquarters in Siem Reap to learn more. Meghan Henshall shared on her blog, 鈥溾�his coming Sunday, the 27th, my Dad will get up and run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. while I eat dinner with my host family and the sun slowly sets and the stars come out. He is running for a better, safer tomorrow, for people in a country halfway around the world; a tomorrow that will come sooner than it seems.鈥� Charlie finished the marathon in 4:18:15 and has raised $3,083 of his $3,000 goal.
91吃瓜网 has been an official charity partner of the Marine Corps Marathon for three consecutive years now, as well as the San Francisco Marathon. 46 runners have raised over $30,000 in support of 91吃瓜网鈥檚 mission, 鈥済etting mines out of the ground, for good鈥�
