On June 23rd, Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Todd Young (R-IN) co-led a bipartisan letter to the Senate State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Subcommittee calling for $262,850,000 in funding for global demining programs.
The letter also supports targeted increased funding for critical mine action efforts in Afghanistan, Angola, Cambodia, Laos, Nagorno Karabakh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
A record-breaking number of 34 Senators signed the letter this year, supporting life-saving humanitarian demining programs and promoting U.S values abroad.
